Chipstead 0 Walton Casuals 1
With eleven 1st and 2nd team players unavailable for a variety of reasons, Tony Stone was forced to put out a side showing six changes from the last game. The team was possibly one of the youngest Chipstead have ever fielded in a senior game with five Under 17's in the starting line up.
But despite their inexperience the team put in a tremendous performance more than matching their opponents in all areas of the pitch and it was Chipstead who had the first chance to take the lead but unfortunately Charlie Wright pulled his shot wide.
Both teams had chances to take the lead but the first half finished goaless. Perhaps sensing their opposition were tiring Walton Casuals pushed forward as the game wore on but Chipstead always looked dangerous on the break and should have been rewarded with a penalty but for some unknown reason the ref decided the foul had occurred outside the box when in fact it was a good 2 metres inside.
But eventually Walton Casuals pressure told and they scored the only goal of the game with 10 minutes remaining, despite making a number of changes Chipstead were unable to score the equaliser that their performance deserved. Every player in the team put in a great performance but MOM for Chipstead was player coach Duncan Algar who led by example.

Chipstead 4 East Grinstead 0
For most of the first half both teams played some neat football but neither side really threatening to take the game by the scruff of the neck. But in the 40th minute Chipstead took the lead when from a free kick an East Grinstead defender handled allowing Liam Oxley the chance to score from the penalty spot.
The second half was totally dominated by Chipstead adding a further three goals but could have scored many more. The second came on the hour when from a free kick Lawrence Buchmann drove the ball home from all of thirty yards with the keeper totally wrong footed. A further goal was added 8 minutes later when a quick series of passes allowed Liam to play in Jamie Jagdeo who coolly slotted the ball past the keeper. The scoring was completed in the 75 minute when a long kick from Barry Andrews was misjudged by the East Grinstead defence allowing Kofi Quartley to chip the keeper run round him and head the ball home. A good performance from all the team but especially the back four, which contained three boys from the Under 18's.

CHPSTEAD RESERVES 2 - 3 EASTBOURNE BOROUGH
Against a young but very talented Eastbourne team this was another game that Chipstead contrived to lose in the last few minutes of the game.
The first ten minutes saw Chipstead hardly get a kick but slowly they worked their way into the game and were rewarded with the opening goal when Andy Young powered home a header from a Rob Lynch corner. The rest of the half saw Eastbourne with the bulk of the procession but with Chipstead creating a number of good chances but failing to add to their one goal lead.
The start of the second period saw Eastbourne come out strongly and equalise within five minutes of the restart. But Chipstead continued to battle and regained the lead after 70 minutes when from another corner Rob Lynch was able to slot the ball home.
With five minutes to go Chipstead looked to be heading for their second win of the season, but when a long ball was played over the top keeper Barry Andrews came out of his box to clear the ball only to see his clearance strike an Eastbourne player and rebound into the unguarded net. Worse was to come, with the game almost over another hopeful long ball saw a mix up in the Chipstead defence giving a Eastbourne forward the opportunity to score the winning goal.
Over all the team played well and did not deserve to lose but what they must learn is how to kill off a game when in a winning position.

CHIPSTEAD RESERVES 2 - 3 GODALMING TOWN
This was a game Chipstead lost rather than won.
After only 3 minutes Chipstead took the lead after good work down the right giving Liam Oxley the opportunity to fire the ball home from the edge of the box. The first half continued with Chipstead well on top , two great saves from the Godalming keeper, plus a penalty save restricted Chipstead's lead to only one when in all honesty it should have been two or three.
The second half saw Chipstead continue to have more of the game, crating plenty of chances and eventually in the 70th minute after a goalmouth scramble Jeromme Elroy finished off well to give the home side a well deserved lead.
But once the second goal hit the back of the net the Chipstead team decided they had one the game and without exception switched off allowing Godalming who never stopped trying to score three goals in the last fifteen minutes, with the winner coming with virtually the last kick.
After Tuesday's great performance and a very comfortable 70 minutes the final result was a great disappointment but hopefully lessons will be learnt by all.
One interesting fact how many teams have two brothers, one captaining the first team, Richard Williams and the other Anthony Williams captaining the reserves.

CHIPSTEAD RESERVES 4 - 1 MERSTHAM RESERVES
After Saturdays disappointing display, a good performance was needed badly to bring a smile back to Stoney's face and how the team responded.
On a superb surface both teams turned on an excellent display of attacking football. The early part of the game saw Merstham press forward but unable to break through a strong defence, Slowly Chipstead worked themselves back into the game with some slick passing moves and were eventually rewarded with the opening goal in the 23rd minute, when from a corner David Warwick hooked the ball over his shoulder and into the back of the net.
Fifteen minutes later Chipstead increased their lead after oa storming run from Lawrence Buchmann beating two defenders and blasting the ball high into the roof of the net from 25 yards and three minutes later Lawrence added a second rising unmarked from a corner and heading the ball past a despairing Merstham keeper.
The second half saw Merstham apply the pressure in the hope of getting back into the game and they were rewarded in the 60th minute with a fierce shot well saved by the Chipstead keeper was pushed into the path of a Merstham forward who drilled the ball into the net.
Rather than putting Chipstead onto the back foot all this goal did was to raise Chipstead's game and they were rewarded with a fourth in the 73rd minute when after good work from Rob Lynch and Liam, Oxley Jeromme Elroy was able to calmly slot the ball home.
A good all round performance and a well deserved win against our local rivals.
