Chipstead 0 - 2 Cray Wanderers
Chipstead were unable to close out their first Ryman League season with a win, as a stubborn Cray Wanderers side claimed victory.
It was ever dominant Cray back line that proved the difference between the two sides, as Chips struggled to make any significant attacking impression. Goals from Ross Lover and Ryan Royston ensured that the play-off bound opposition took all three points from the High Road, but they weren't enough to give them automatic promotion.
The game began nervously, largely deadlocked in a midfield battle, but the first real chances fell to Chips.
Scott Simpson was put through on goal but his shot could only find the side netting, before the hosts had the ball in the Cray net. Fred Fleming got ahead of Cray keeper Glen Knight to nod in, only for referee Dave Smith to controversially disallow it, judging that the ball was knocked out of Knight's hands.
Chipstead were looking solid, with Chris Head and captain Danny Oakins playing staring roles, it was Cray who took the lead when Chips gave away an unnecessary free-kick to the right of their penalty area.
Lover curled in a superb free-kick that went courtesy of the cross-bar and a rebound off the flying Oakins. Chipstead then had to survive sustained Cray pressure before half-time, to remain in the contest.
The game opened up further after the break, and both teams had opportunities to score the next goal. Terrific reactions meant Knight could keep out an Oakins free-kick, and substitute Jamil York also had a penalty appeal rightly turned down. In the meantime, Lover blazed over, and had a shot cleared off the line by Chips' instrumental skipper.
Dangerous Cray winger Tyrone Sterling put several crosses into the box, begging to be converted. He also produced a chance, wasted by Jamie Wood, as Cray took the initiative at the end.
Parkinson stood firm until the 88th minute, when Royston powerfully headed home a Jamie Wood corner, to seal it for the visitors.
Chipstead finish the season in a respectable 15th position. With Ryman experience under their belt, and plenty of promising signs through it, expectations will be high within Chips' camp, for next season.

Wayne Hibbert wins the ball v Molesey
MATCH REPORT
Wednesday 23rd April 2008
Chipstead 4 - 3 Molesey
Chips won this seven goal thriller to earn a place in the final of the Southern Combination Cup competition against Ashford Town (Middx) their old rivals from the Combined Counties League that now are close to the play off's in the Ryman Premier League.
Molesey who have been relegated from Ryman One South came and played with a spirit that saw them leap in to a two goal lead inside the first twenty minutes. Their hero was Jamie Findlay who got both goals finding a way on both occasions through Chips sluggish defence and neatly rounding Joe Gant in Chips goal.
Chip's had plenty of the possession and countless corners before Jon Boswell fouled Danny Oakins and Scott Simpson delivered the ball into the danger area for Fred Flemming to grab a goal back on the half hour. Simpson seized a chance from Aaron Cole-Bolts good work only to see his goal bound effort deflected for a corner. Flemming was on hand for Chip's to make a well timed block just before the break.
Chip's came out of the blocks straight after the break and after Craig Pitterson shot wide from a good position Oakin's produced some neat footwork before passing across to Cole-Bolt who rifled home the equaliser from the edge of the box after a neat step over from Simpson gave him the space to shoot.
Oakin's was again instrumental in the third Chip's goal a few minutes later when he set up Simpson who volleyed past James Farrow from 12 yards. Oakin's finally got on the score sheet with a fourth goal when Pitterson worked his way down the right and crossed for the Skipper to chest and volley home.
Chip's might have added a fifth when Daryl Coleman set up Simpson but he was denied by a great save from Farrow in the visitors goal. Chip's gave Molesey hope again on the hour mark when they conceded an unnecessary free kick and Paul Cross converted for the opposition to create a tense finish to this cup semi-final.

Whyteleafe 1 - 2 Chipstead
Chipstead saved the turning point in their run of defeats for this local derby to finally produce the form that got them to a mid table position of respectability.
With the return of Scott Simpson up front to pair with Danny Oakins Chips started to look a threat again in front of goal and with the incentive of completing a double over their local rivals gave a performance worthy of the victory. Chip's recalled Daryl Dennehy in goal due to a groin strain preventing Andy Parkinson availability. It was a busy start for Dennehy as the home side started in a lively fashion and early saves from Sam Clayton and Sean Rivers were necessary before Chip's settled and started to impact the game although the bumpy pitch conditions were not conducive to Chip's passing game.
Chip's however broke the deadlock just after the half hour when their first corner of the match was delivered by Chris Head and captain Oakins timed his run to perfection to head home at the near post. Oakins had another effort well saved by Rob Tolfrey before play switched and the home side were awarded a soft penalty. Dennehy responded with a great save diving to his right to push Clayton's effort away to safety. Chips soaked up pressure from the Leafe although they were conceding too many free kicks strong clearances from Fred Flemming and Andrew Wareing kept them at bay.
The pressure continued after the break with Dennehy saving well from defender Moses Spencer. Chips second goal was a simple affair with Dennehy's long clearance flicked on by Oakins to Simpson who simply done what he's good at, a great touch and a fine volley away from Tolfrey's long reach. There was still plenty of defending for Chips to do as Leafe piled on the pressure but strong defending and some more great saves from Dennehy kept a clean sheet until close to the end.
A long clearance from Tolfrey wasn't cleared before it bounced and with Dennehy committed to racing from his goal substitute Joel Greaves neatly played the ball over the advancing keeper to pull a goal back. It was too little to late for Leafe as Chip's defended to the end and even broke away a couple of times for Simpson and Aaron Cole-Bolt to go close with some good shots.

16 year old Joe Gant saves from the spot v Walton Casuals
MATCH REPORT
Saturday 12th April 2008
Chipstead 1 - 2 Walton Casuals
Chipstead's run of defeats continued but they had more than enough chances to have won the game. John Ambridge opened the scoring for the visitors after just six minutes when he beat Chip's offside trap, rounded the advancing Andy Parkinson and rolled the ball into an empty net. Fred Fleming saw his header pushed over for a corner by Craig Bradshaw and Chris Head's resulting corner hit the crossbar and was scrambled away. Fleming went close again from Head's corner and Aaron Cole-Bolt's shot was deflected away from goal. At Chip's end Sergie Musungu should have tested Parkinson but put his shot wide from 12 yards out.
Jamel Carr also went close for the visitors when he got behind Chip's defence but Parkinson advanced to narrow the angle on goal and Ashley Reid cleared off the goal line. Ambridge went close with a flick on from a free kick just before the break. Chip's introduced sixteen year old Joe Gant making his debut in goal for the first team after the break due to a groin strain hampering Parkinson.
An equaliser came just minutes after the break when a long clearance found Wayne Hibbett on the left who tricked his way around two defenders before setting up Cole-Bolt to fire home from 12 yards. Gants first sight of any action was to race from goal in an attempt to clear from Carr but his mistimed tackle gave the opposition a penalty kick. Chris Kiganda stepped up to shoot and Gant dived to his right to brilliantly save his effort. Chip's should have gone ahead shortly afterwards when substitute Jamil York worked his way down the right and put in a pin-point cross to Danny Oakins who somehow managed to chest the ball over the bar from close range when a simple header might have done better.
Craig Pitterson should have at least tested Bradshaw but his shot was off target. Walton responded and Reid cleared off the goal line for the second time in the match before Carr's cleaver run set up Kiganda to fire home from close range with two minutes to spare and Bradshaw ensured their victory punching clear from a Chip's corner in the final seconds.

MATCH REPORT

Corinthian Casuals 1 - 0 Chipstead
Chip's poor run of form continued at Casuals although they were without key players Andrew Wareing, Scott Simpson, Steve Eggleton and the injured Richard Williams they created enough opportunities to win the game but lacked quality in front of goal and were unable to reply to a first half goal by Carlton Murray-Price which turned out to be the match winner.
In changeable weather conditions throughout the afternoon the match went from end to end although it sometimes lacked quality with the slippery surface a mistake at either end was always likely. Luke Gay beat the Chip's offside trap but with Andy Parkinson racing out from goal he shot wide. Liam Oxley forced a corner when his shot was deflected away from goal and Daryl Coleman rose to head fractionally wide of Casuals goal.
Murray-Price was left unmarked in Chip's box and converted Gay's cross on 31 minutes to give Casuals the lead. Jamil York was guilty of wasting a great chance just before the break and a second opportunity from Craig Pittersons cross was whipped away from his toes by a defender right on half time.
Chip's applied more pressure on the home sides defence in the second half and Danny Oakins should have hit the target from Pittersons cross but blasted the ball high over the goal. Oakins then saw his header well saved by Colin Harris and Fred Fleming's flick from Colemans long throw bounced up and over the crossbar. Both Gay for the home side and Oakins fired shots high over the bar and with Chip's throwing everything forward Parkinson was in action from two breakaway's firstly forcing Tyrone Myton wide to hit the side netting and then saving at the feet of Murray-Price.
Chip's can expect at least Wareing to be available for next weeks home tie to Walton Casuals and Simpson to return against local rivals Whyteleafe on Tuesday.

But where's the ball? v Eastbourne
MATCH REPORT
Saturday 29th March 2008
Chipstead 2 - 3 Eastbourne Town
Chip's were unable to record another ‘double' as their poor run of form continued. Despite the return of Danny Oakins who scored both Chip's goals they conceded a lead within two minutes and went to half time trailing 1 - 2. When Oakin's second goal pulled them level they had the chances to go on and win the game but a scorching once a season goal from full back John Piercy and some desperate defending kept the advantage with the visitors.
Both sides made a bright start to the game and it was Oakin's who fired in Chip's first after just six minutes when he cleverly turned and shot goal wards and a deflection off a defender sent Greg Nessling the wrong way. The lead was short lived as Eastbourne pulled the goal back after just two minutes when the defence went to sleep and allowed Ben Putland all the time he needed to meet a cross to head firmly past Andy Parkinson.
Both sides had efforts which came off the woodwork before the visitors took the lead when top scorer Liam Baitup drilled home a cross from Danny Simmonds. Chips improved after the break and substitute Liam Oxley forced a great save from Nessling. Jamil King should have drawn Chip's level but his headed effort was off target. Oxley worked hard to get in a cross that Oakins converted to draw level but again Chip's conceded an unnecessary free kick and slack marking allowed a simple lay off to the unmarked Piercy who rifled home from all of 25 yards.
Chip's continued to pressure and Oxley went close just before Fred Fleming saw his effort cleared off the line.Substitute Lewis Clark should have done better with Oakins last minute cross but it added to the long list of missed opportunities that plagued Chip's throughout the match.

Andy Parkinson collects the ball v Met Police
MATCH REPORT
Saturday 22nd March 2008
Chipstead 1 - 3 Metropolitan Police
Met Police pretty much secured a play off place with this performance. Even though they were reduced to ten men when Tommy Moorhouse was red carded for a tackle on Scott Simpson. Chips had the better of exchanges in the first half playing into a strong wind they took the lead after 31 minutes when some neat footwork by Simpson played in Liam Oxley who fired accurately past Will Packham.
Andy Parkinson needed to stay alert to the long ranging balls carrying through to him facing the strong biting wind. Parkinson saved well from a bending free kick driven in by Steve Savage and Fred Fleming did well to block a shot from James Greenaway.
Packham saved a tremendous volley at the second attempt by Simpson and when Moorhouse was dismissed just before the break Chip's were in the driving seat.
Met Police shuffled there shape at half time and a game can change so quickly as Chip's found out to their cost when Craig Carley pressured Steve Eggleton and got possession he was through on goal and he neatly side stepped Parkinson to level the scores.
Chip's suffered again at the hands of Carley when he chased a through ball while Chip's defence stood and claimed an offside decision that never came and he tucked away his second of the match. Chip's seemed to loose their shape and despite the substitutions never got back in control of the match and Carley earnt the man of the match title when he again nipped through Chip's defence and claimed his hat trick firing past Parkinson.

Croydon Athletic 3 - 0 Chipstead
Chips came out second best to the Rams and fast track Referee Mr Webb. After falling behind to an Adam Greenaway effort after just six minutes Chip's found themselves reduced to ten men just a minute later when Mr Webb selected Scott Simpson out of a melee of players who were all pushing and shoving each other.
Simpson dragged a Croydon player who had his hand round the throat of a Chip's player away and was punished with the red card. Neither the player who kicked Ashley Reid after a tackle which started the fracas or the throat grabber was even spoken to yet Chip's were awarded the free kick.
Chips readjusted and whilst settling down to a new shape Andy Parkinson saved well from Moses Ademola and then raced out to clear from Greenaway. Aaron Cole-Bolt tried a long range effort which was just too high.
Twice Ademola looked offside but with no flag he broke through the defence only to blast wide of goal. Parkinson made a good save from Lamin Ojo and right on the break Chips wasted a glorious chance when a long throw was flicked on by Fred Flemming but blasted over from six yards out. The game was fairly even and Flemming was unlucky when he met Cole-Bolts corner with a powerful header only to see it scrambled off the line.
The killer blow came when Chips had possession down the right and referee Webb halted play because another ball had rolled onto the pitch on the far side. The game restarted with Croydon being instructed to play a free ball back to Chips which they drilled back to Parkinson whose clearance went to Ademola who fired home. Chip's ten men were tiring and Jason Ward wrapped up the match for Croydon when he got behind the defence and tucked away the third and final goal.

Dulwich Hamlet 1 - 1 Chipstead
Strong winds all afternoon prevented a real quality game of football at Champion Hill and Chip's came away with a well deserved point although the home side really needed maximum points to maintain a play off challenge.
There were a few chances early on for both sides with Aaron Cole-Bolts shot being held by Sheikh Ceesay and Steve May blazing over for the home side. Dulwich's best effort of the first half was Meschach Nugents header which bounced back off the post in to play and was cleared by Chip's relieved defence. Chip's took the lead just before the break when Ceesay could only parry Danny Oakins fierce shot and Fred Flemming buried the rebound.
Dulwich equalised soon after the restart when Chip's defence were caught out by a long clearance from defence and Charlie Taylor run on unchallenged and fired home past the advancing Andy Parkingson. Chip's responded and after some good work on the right flank by Craig Pitterson Danny Oakins had a glorious chance to put the visitors back in to the lead but his effort went agonisingly wide of the far post.
Parkinson was brought in to action facing the strong wind in his face and saved well from Taylor and tipped over a fine effort from Meshach Nugent. Ceesay saved efforts from Scott Simpson, Cole-Bolt and Pitterson to ensure Chip's took only the one point away with them.

Andrew Wareing heads clear v Worthing
Saturday 1st March 2008
Chipstead 1 - 2 Worthing
Before the match there was a minutes silence in memory of Herve King who passed away two weeks ago whilst playing for Ringmer. Herve spent a season with Chipstead three years ago and he was an honest player who always gave his all and who was popular amongst both the Players and Officers of the club and at 27 years old is a sad loss to us all. Our condolences go out to all his Family and friends.
This match was pretty even over the ninety minutes and was a keenly fought contest. The turning point ultimately was when Chips were having their best spell and Daryl Coleman mistimed a tackle on the halfway line which the Referee adjudged bad enough to show a red card. That turned the match in favour of the visitors and a late winner gave Worthing maximum points. Worthing scored the opening goal after 11 minutes when Jamie Brotherton volleyed from an acute angle which Andy Parkinson done well to parry but the ball dropped kindly for Brotherton and he delivered a cross to the far post where Scott Kirkwood scored with an acrobatic overhead kick. Worthing had the best of the first half with Chip's conceding too many free kicks in the final third putting Chip's defence under real pressure. Scott Simpson went close with a shot and Lee Sidwell had Chips best effort which saw him meet a free kick from Aaron Cole-Bolt with a powerful head which was cleared off Worthings goal line by the fullback.
Chip's piled on the pressure in the second half and Fred Flemming missed from close range after Coleman's long throw into the goal area caused panic. Danny Oakins supplied the equaliser on 70 minutes with his third conversion in two matches from the penalty spot after Simpson was floored with a trip on route to goal. Chips lost Coleman in the following good spell of possession when it looked likely they might score again.
Worthing's winner came in the last ten minutes when Parkinson was challenged in midair by Dominic Douglas and the ball dropped kindly for Douglas to tap home the decisive goal.

Saturday 23rd February 2008
This match attracted the third highest gate of the season for a Ryman South league match which gives a great deal of credit to Chip's performances so far this season. Even without regulars Danny Oakins who was ill and Andy Wareing & Aaron Cole-Bolt who were both suspended Chip's should be pleased with the performance that saw the League leaders just edge this giants versus minnows match.
Chip's also silenced the large crowd when Fred Flemming gave them a 28th minute lead from a well delivered free kick by Chris Head. Unfortunately the lead lasted only a short time as player manager Andy Hessenthaler latched on to a long clearance and kept his cool to deceive Andy Parkinson with a neat finish five minutes later.
Chip's played well and defended gallantly under pressure for long periods and they looked dangerous on the break as Dover's frustrations grew at not being able to increase their lead before the break.
Dover's breakthrough came in the second spell when a free kick fell amongst a group of players and Craig Cloke's strike off his shin somehow found its way past Parkinson. Chip's continued to cause problems on their breakaways and Sam Butler went close with his head. Chip's had a final opportunity close to the end when Butler rounded two defenders and Fleming fired over the target from 15 yards.
Overall Dover enjoyed the better of the match but Chip's should be pleased with a fine performance against the would be League champions come the end of April.

Saturday 16th February 2008
Chips completed another double in a match of two very different halves in which either side could have taken all three points. The first half undoubtedly belonged to the visitors who had an early effort ruled out for offside and took command of the opening session putting the home side under tremendous pressure when they should have perhaps improved on the solitary goal that gave them the lead. Leatherhead went ahead after 27 minutes when Billy Marshall found enough space to volley home from an angled position to beat Andy Parkinson at his near post. With Gareth Graham controlling things in midfield for the visitors only some desperate defending at times together with Parkinson's good form kept the score to a solitary goal up to the break. Things however changed after the interval and with Joe Garner keeping a tight reign on Graham and Lee Sidwells penetrating runs on the flanks Chips turned the match in their favour. Aaron France in the opposition's goal became the busiest man on the park having to punch clear numerous deliveries from corners, free kicks and crosses into the danger area. Scott Simpson pulled the save of the match out of France when forcing a brilliant reaction to his volley from 18 yards which France at full stretch managed to beat away for a corner.
The pressure eventually told and it was Sidwell who fired home Chip's first finishing off a move between Craig Pitterson and Simpson. With twenty minutes still to go both sides became more adventurous looking for a winner but it was Chips who claimed the second goal with just four minutes left. Man of the match Sidwell collected the ball wide on Chips right flank and raced past full back Steve McNamara and cutting into the penalty box laid on a pass for the supporting Simpson to shoot past France for the winner.
This win took Chips three points past their minimum point's target of forty which was 17th position last season. With twelve matches still to go their season has a brighter look than after the first six matches when they failed to take a point. Quite a turn around from those early results and with some great scalps on the way this season already seems a success story.

Andy Parkinson collects the ball v Sittingbourne
MATCH REPORT
Saturday 9th February 2008
Sittingbourne 2 - 0 Chipstead
Chipstead had plenty of possession and created enough chances to have won this match by half time. The chances weren't taken and with Chris Lewington in fine form in the home goal the first half remained goalless.
Scott Simpson and Lee Sidwell saw their shots fly past Lewington's wood work and full back Joe Dowley was grateful that his deflection from Craig Pitterson's low hard cross missed his own goal by inches. Andy Parkinson was in action saving well on two or three occasions especially from Ian Varley who found time and space in Chip's area and unleashed a shot from close range. Both Simpson and Pitterson had efforts saved by Lewington before the break which saw the half end goalless.
Chip's clearest chance came soon after the break when Joe Garner won a challenge in midfield and slid the ball through to Simson who waited until Lewington was committed coming out of his goal but he rolled the ball agonisingly wide of the woodwork. Lewington was in action again twice in quick succession and again it was Simpson who forced two great saves from the keeper
Parkinson matched that with two equally good saves at the other end but he was powerless to stop Hicham Akhazzan finally volleying home from close range after Chip's failed to clear a corner in the 70th minute. Danny Oakin's playing in central defence in place of the unavailable Andy Wareing immediately pushed up to make the extra striker and Chip's reverted to a three man defence.
Simpson forced another good save from Lewington before they fell victims of a breakaway goal with players committed forward Akhazzan collected his second goal on 83 minutes finishing any chances of a Chip's revival. Akhazzan collected the man of the match award for his two goals but Lewington kept the home side in the match before there was any score on the board. Sidwell's tireless running in midfield was great to see as he returns to full fitness but Chip's need to resurrect their killer touch in front of goal that seems to have eluded them in the last two matches although the chances have clearly been there for the taking.

Chips clear the danger v Tooting & Mitcham
MATCH REPORT
Saturday 2nd February 2008
Chipstead 0 - 1 Tooting & Mitcham Utd
Chipstead deserved something from this enthralling match and they might have got it if they had taken their opportunities in the first half of a match that was excellent entertainment from start to finish.
After a couple of half chances at each end Danny Oakins and Scott Simpson combined to set up Aaron Cole-Bolt and his on target shot rifled off a defender for a corner. Lee Sidwell in the thick of the action had two chances almost one after the other, his first was a glancing header from Craig Pitterson's corner which full back Ryan Gray cleared off the goal line
Followed by a volley which flew over Dave King's crossbar. Simpson saw his effort deflected away for a corner but there were still no goals.Tooting worked hard to get in to the match and Jon Henry-Haydon should have scored when his shot from six yards out was cleared off the line by Andrew Wareing. Oakin's tried his luck with a spectacular overhead kick which flew past the woodwork. Chip's came under some pressure before the break but the closest they came was an effort by Chris Head which had King beaten but rolled agonisingly wide of his far post.
Tooting made two changes at the break and began putting some pressure on Chip's defences. Henry-Haydon escaped the off side trap but Parkinson was quick to react and made a great save from the prolific scorer. Parkinson was soon in action again saving brilliantly from Henry-Haydon. Simpson got behind the Tooting defence and latched on to a poor back pass but King made a great save and from his clearance the ball rebounded between two players and fell to Henry-Haydon who finally shot beyond Parkinson with the help of a deflection for what turned out to be the winning goal.
Paul Vines might have extended the visitors lead but he mishit his shot from six yards over Parkinson's crossbar. More drama followed when Wareing tugged back Vines and was red carded but Parkinson kept the match alive with a great penalty save from Allan Mcleod's spot kick. Chips pushed players forward to get back the single deficit and went close to equalising when Oakins header just went beyond King's crossbar. Tooting had a couple of late opportunities to extend their lead with Chip's pushing forward but the woodwork denied both Henry-Haydon and substitute Damien Smith.

Liam Oxley heads towards goal v Horsham YMCA
MATCH REPORT
Saturday 26th January 2008
Chipstead 3 - 1 Horsham YMCA
Chipstead returned to winning ways with their third double of the season winning comfortably against lowly Horsham.
It didn't all go Chips way from the start as Andy Parkinson found out having to save early on from an Andy Ottley effort that was defiantly goal bound. Aaron Cole-Bolt should have tested Chris Winterton in goal for the visitors but his shot went wide of the target. Scott Simpson put the visitors defence under pressure and he won a free kick just outside the goal area which Cole-Bolt curled in to the goalmouth. Horsham's defence didn't clear the danger and Danny Oakins flicked the ball past the advancing keeper for Liam Oxley to force the ball home.
Chip's increased their lead five minutes later when Simpson was caught by a mistimed tackle and Glen Woodburn conceded a penalty. Oakins stepped up to convert the spot kick for the second goal.
Chip's kept control up to and beyond the restart when they quickly added a third goal. This time it was Oakins who was fouled and Cole-Bolt again delivered a well placed free kick which Fred Fleming met with a glancing header. Simpson blasted over from 20 yards out and Winterton was kept busy with some constant Chip's pressure. Horsham pulled a goal back when in a rare attack Matt Simpson beat the offside trap and run on to shoot past Parkinson.
Late on Matt Duffield had a chance to test Parkinson but placed his header high over the home goal. Manager Nick English used the last 15 minutes to introduce new signing Louis Clark and fit again Joe Garner together with Steve Eggleton who made his 299th First Team appearance. Winterton done well to save Cole-Bolts low powerful free kick in the closing minutes to prevent a fourth goal as Chip's coasted to another home victory.

The ball sails over in the strong wind v Kingstonian
MATCH REPORT
Saturday 19th January 2008
Kingstonian 4 - 0 Chipstead
Chipstead were brought down to earth after four consecutive Ryman league wins, against a high flying Kingstonian side who now move back into the play off positions.
In the first half with the wind at their backs Kingstonian's long ball game had the better of Chipstead, when they raced into a three goal lead before the break. In the 4th minute when K's were piling on the pressure and Lampton's cross found Summers whose shot was well saved by Parkinson.
In the ninth minute Nick Rundell's corner went through a crowd of players in a swirling wind only to be headed home for an own goal by Daryl Coleman.
In the 22nd minute a free kick by Rundell from 30 yards found Huckle to head home Kingstonian's second. Chips were playing some good football and Lee Sidwell broke down the right to cross to Danny Oakins who headed just over the K's crossbar
Kingstonian were causing all kinds of problems and making the most of the blustery wind that they had on their backs and in the 34 minute Lodge's corner found Sobihy who headed home the third from seven yards out. The first half ended with Oakins just grazing the crossbar with a fierce shot..
After the break Chips improved with the wind now in their backs but were unfortunate to concede a penalty after 60 minutes when Lodge was adjudged to of been pushed over in the penalty area. Lampton made no mistake with his spot kick blasting it into the back of the net for Kingstonian's 4th goal.

MATCH REPORT

Chipstead 3 - 1 Whitstable Town
Chipstead continued their good run of form gaining a second ‘double' of the season with a sound performance against the team where Chip's fortunes changed way back in September. After six straight defeats they came away from the coastal club with their first win of the season.
After a cautious start by both sides Chip's broke the deadlock on the half hour, Aaron Cole-Bolt played the perfect diagonal pass to Scott Simpson who skipped past his marker and left Kevin Fewell little chance to save his well placed shot.
Prior to that opener Lee Sidwell saw Fewell dive to save his goal bound effort and Simpson forced Fewell to a full length save low to his right. Andy Parkinson saved well from Town's skipper Marcus Perona and Fred Fleming cleared an effort from Jake Goss off the goaline. Fewell was in action again just prior to the break saving from Craig Pitterson with his legs after Cole-Bolts free kick was blocked by a five man wall.
Parkinson was the first into action after the restart saving low to his left from no.9 Ian Pullman. But the visitor's efforts were short lived when Simpson picked up a loose ball and worked his way across the defensive line finding Sidwell with a short pass who fired powerfully past Fewell to add a second for the home side
Chip's took control and efforts from Simpson and Danny Oakins both went close before Pitterson fought hard to win possession and played a neat pass into the path of Simpson who added his second of the match. Steven Lloyd wasted a good opportunity for Whitstable when he misdirected his headed effort from a corner.
The visitors got a consolation goal three minutes from time when they took advantage of a quick free kick and Liam Quinn floated the ball into Parkinson's goal catching the keeper off his line.

Ball in the box v Molesey
MATCH REPORT
Saturday 05th January 2008
Molesey 0 - 1 Chipstead
Chip's showed great character to take three points and achieve their first double of the season being reduced to ten men after 10 minutes and going down to nine men with 25 minutes still to be played. They frustrated the home side with long spells of possession and apart from two early half chances and two tremendous saves in the final two minutes by Andy Parkinson he had a relatively easy afternoon.
After an early incident which produced bookings for Fred Flemming and centre forward Julian Phillips for Molesey Andrew Wareing was shown red for violent conduct in a similar incident with the same player after only ten minutes. Danny Oakins reverted to centre half and snubbed any threat from Jenkins and his strike partner Eric Kwakye. Chip's threatened when Scott Simpson broke away seizing on to a poor pass in the sticky bumpy conditions and only the legs of keeper Jon Ashwood prevented the opening goal.
Chip's scored the only goal of the match in the 37th minute when Aaron Cole-Bolt used his strength to break away from three desperate lunges and slip the ball to Simpson who twisted and turned before lifting a cross beyond Ashwood to the far post where Craig Pitterson run the ball in to the net. Molesey broke through after the restart with Kwakye looking to be in an offside position but Parkinson raced out to save. Richard Williams replaced Cole Bolt as fresh legs just before Ashley Reid was dismissed for a second yellow card leaving Chip's with nine men to see out the match.
Simpson was alone up front but still caused the home side to leave three players defending and Molesey's only threats were from set plays. Liam Oxley finally replaced Simpson for the final ten minutes and only in the time added on the home side had their best chances from a corner which was cleared but fell to substitute Matt Fowler who volleyed goal wards but Parkinson dived to parry his effort and after a melee the ball went to Kwakye who hammered back a goal bound effort which again Parkinson blocked. As Chris Head finally cleared the danger Phillips came in with a late tackle and was dismissed.
A match that won't be remembered for its quality but nevertheless the three points went back to the High Road and leaves Chip's in a sound mid-table position for the start of the New Year.

Danny Oakins wins the ball v Chatham
MATCH REPORT
Saturday 29th December 2007
Chatham Town 1 - 2 Chipstead
On a sticky pitch which didn't suit Chip's style of football they fell behind after just three minutes when Mark Brooks raced on to a diagonal ball catching out Chip's rear guard and finished off the move smartly firing past Andy Parkinson to put the home side ahead.
Chip's were still adjusting when no.9 Patrick Bishondon found himself with time and space to fire goal wards only this time a great save from Parkinson prevented a second goal. Chip's finally got into gear and gradually worked their way in to the match.
There chance to level arrived on 13 minutes when Scott Simpson broke through Towns defence and keeper John Whitehouse raced from goal only to mistime his dive and catch Simpson. Danny Oakin's made no mistake from the spot. There were half chances for both sides, Simpson fired wide from 20 yards and Sam Gambridas attempted to lob Parkinson but the ball landed on the top netting. Simon Best's shot was saved by Parkinson and Brooks crossed for Bishondon to head goal wards but Parkinson collected easily. Kofi Quarty saw Whitehouse race from his goal line twice to prevent him shooting and to send the teams in level at the break.
Chip's improved somewhat after the interval and Quarty had three early opportunities to get on the scoresheet but was prevented by Whitehouse who was kept busy during the early exchanges. Oakin's saw Whitehouse save one from him and then he fired just wide with the keeper out of position. Chatham replied with some good build up play down the flanks and Parkinson was called on to collect numerous crosses under pressure.
Chip's went in front after 83 minutes when a bright move ended with Oakin's shot being blocked and the ball fell to Lee Sidwell who took a touch and volleyed from 15 yards across Whitehouse neatly tucking the ball away into the far netting. Chip's might have added to the score line when a fine move wrong footed the Town's defence and Simpson elected to round the keeper instead of taking an early shot and his effort was scrambled away. A good result for Chip's who beaten 1-4 were in August by Chatham demonstrating a marked improvement in performance since then.

Chipstead 3 - 1 Whyteleafe
Chipstead got the better of Whyteleafe in this North East Surrey derby match in a dour game which only brightened up in the second half. There were far too many stoppages for petty offences which prevented any flow to the game until the latter stages. Chip's threatened from the first whistle and took the lead after just seven minutes when a fine diagonal ball from left to right by Aaron Cole-Bolt picked out Craig Pitterson who took one touch and fired past Robert Tolfrey.
Whyteleafe responded but for all their possession only one shot high of Chip's goal was all they had to show for their efforts. Ashley Reid blocked an effort by Callum Maclean and another of Maclean's efforts was easily gathered up by Andy Parkinson. Pitterson went close before the break for the home side when he volleyed inches wide from a free kick for a foul on Lee Sidwell.
Chris Kennedy and Sam Clayton had opportunities after the break but one off target and a save from Parkinson prevented a change of score line. Just before Chip's increased their lead Parkinson pulled off a tremendous save from the free scoring Sean Rivers and when play switched to the other end Leafe found themselves two down. A mix up defensively allowed Danny Oakins to nip in and shoot past Tolfrey.
The game swung again two minutes later when Kennedy cut inside from the left and was allowed the freedom to pick his spot and fire home past Parkinson who deserved better cover from his defence. The visitor's task became even harder when Maclean was dismissed a few minutes later
For a second bookable offence. Parkinson was called upon for one more exceptional save when he tipped a free kick from Sam Clayton over his Crossbar. After that the visitors challenge fizzled and Chip's went on to score a third goal from Parkinson's long clearance which was neatly touched on to Scott Simpson who quickly turned and fired past Tolfrey from 18 yards giving Chip's a thoroughly deserved victory.

Andy Parkinson makes a great save v Walton & Hersham
MATCH REPORT
Saturday 22nd December 2007
WALTON & HERSHAM 2 - 1 CHIPSTEAD
With a 1-00pm kick off, the game was only given the go ahead at midday as the pitch was still hard from the previous frosts over the last few days.
As early as the first minute Walton's Nwanze broke through on the right to fire a good shot into the side netting. Casuals were piling on the pressure and in the 14 minute Thompson forced Andy Parkinson in the Chipstead goal into making a fine save Chips began to settle and Pitterson played a through ball to Oxley who found Wareing to force the Walton keeper into a making a good save. Casuals were creating the more chances and in the 30th and 40th minutes Parkinson made two more good saves. On 45 minutes Cole-Bolt took a corner on the left and the ball was only cleared out as far as Sidwell on the edge of the box who struck a fine volley to put Chips 1-0 up at the interval.
The second half started with Chips looking the most likely to score and having their best spell of the game. Alleyne forced Parkinson into a save with a low drive. It was good end to end football by both teams, and then in the 60th minute Oxley had an effort cleared off the line. After 65 minutes Oxley limped off to be replaced by Quartey. Pitterson drove a dangerous low ball into the area from the right, and only a interception by Moriarty cleared the danger.
Walton were now putting pressure on the Chipstead goal and in the 70th minute Nwanze struck a good shot past Parkinson to equalise.
The home side were again putting a lot of pressure on the Chipstead goal and Andrew Wareing was having a fine game for Chipstead. Buchmann replaced Cole-Bolt in the 75 minute. On 78 minutes Nwanze scored his second goal of the game with a fine curling shot that into the top left hand corner of Parkinson's goal that gave the keeper little chance.
On a difficult surface this was a good entertaining game of football and a credit to both teams and the match officials.

CHIPSTEAD 2 - 3 BURGESS HILL TOWN
Burgess Hill Town completed their first double of the season with a late victory at Chipstead. Chips controlled the early part of the match and took the lead after 6 minutes when a fine move involving Aaron Cole-Bolt, Scott Simpson and Danny Oakins left Craig Pitterson to hit the target for Chip's to go a goal up.
Chip's let their lead slip when a poor throw resulted in possession being lost and Steve Harper rounded his marker and set up Lloyd Cotton who confidently converted past Andy Parkinson.
All square at the interval but Town went in front within a minute of the restart when Chips again played a loose pass giving away possession and a ball was lofted into Chip's danger area where Matt Geard volleyed back across goal and the ball took a wicked deflection off Fred Fleming to give the visitors the lead. Chip's fought back again and chances were missed until from Parkinson's long clearance Oakins neatly laid off the ball to Simpson who fired home for the equaliser.
The game could have gone either way but it went in favour of Town when after a poor back pass Parkinson was caught out of goal and a defender was adjudged to have handled and a spot kick awarded. No punishment ensued as neither the referee or his assistant could identify an offender. Harper converted the spot kick and Town held on till the final whistle which ended a niggly scrappy afternoon not helped by a below par performance by all three match officials.

WORTHING 1 - 2 CHIPSTEAD
It was a freezing cold evening down on the south coast but Chip's performance warmed the away support that traveled to watch this match. Looking to avenge their 1 - 3 home defeat in the FA Trophy inflicted earlier this seasonChip's new that they would need a far better effort and they produced just that. After a shaky first 20 minutes when the home side piled on the pressure claiming a hand ball that was turned down and inflicting numerous corners and goal activity.
Chips gradually worked their way into the game and silenced a very vocal crowd after 38 minutes when Lee Sidwell inched a perfect pass through to Scott Simpson who danced between three defenders before slotting a neat shot past the advancing home keeper to give the visitors a first half lead.
However the haff time team talk were given Chips took control from the restart and Worthing looked like they were still in the dressing room. Craig Pitterson was given space to marude down the right causing mayhem with his crosses into the home goal area and Simpson was running at the opposition and only some desperate defending prevented another goal.
Worthing tried to break down Chips structure but good all round play from midfield and some resolute defending by the back four and keeper Andy Parkinson kept them at bay. Chips went further ahead on 72 minutes when a well placed corner by Chris Head was firmly met at the near post by Lee Sidwell. This forced the home side to throw everything forward and Chips defended strongly, but were caught out by a deep delivery from the right allowing Ben Andrews to pull a goal back with just 12 minutes to go . Although there was some heart stopping moments in the final minutes Chips held firm and got a thoroughly deserved victory on the night.

CHIPSTEAD 4 - 1 CRYSTAL PALACE
SURREY SENIOR CUP
Chip's had a fine start to this seasons Surrey Cup competition eventually winning comfortably against a mixed Palace side. Chip's had an enforced change early on when Richard Williams had to leave the field with an injury that allowed Lee Sidwell also just fit again to have a run out. There was a quick pace to the game throughout the first half but neither side had any real clear cut chances.
Very soon after the restart Chip's took the lead when Scott Simpson ran thirty yards evading three challenges to fire past Martin Jacobs an ex- Chipstead player in goal for Palace. There was some goal action at both ends before Palace equalised with a shot from 20 yards out which was well taken. The match entered extra time and Chip's took a firm hold on the match scoring just five minutes into extra time when a good exchange of passes between Simpson and Liam Oxley ended with a Palace defender scoring an own goal under pressure from Craig Pitterson.
Chip's increased their lead when an Aaron Cole-Bolt delivered a free kick to the far post and Fred Fleming headed back across goal for Andrew Wareing to convert.
Andy Parkinson made a great save to his right in the final minutes before a fine move by Ashley Reid and Pitterson ended with Liam Oxley taking the ball in his stride and firing firmly past Jacobs to complete the scoring. The next match will be against the winners of Chertsey v Merstham

Andy Parkins Saves v Croydon Athletic
MATCH REPORT
Saturday 1st December 2007
CHIPSTEAD 3 - 3 CROYDON ATHLECTIC
Another entertaining game for the crowd but Chip's certainly had their chances to put the match beyond Croydon's reach but failed to take the opportunities.
Steve Douglas gave Croydon Athletic a 1st minute lead when he carried the ball 20 yards and fired a great shot past Andy Parkinson. Chips were still rocking from that when Moses Ademola blasted wide from an acute angle. Croydon conceded a free kick which skipper Danny Oakins fired harmlessly against the defensive wall. Scott Simpson missed a chance to equalize when put through he rounded keeper Sam Mott but his shot was cleared off the line. Jordan Kippin was a cause for concern for Chips defence putting in plenty of crosses from the right.
Chips went close from a quick throw by Ashley Reid When Simpson onto Andrew Wareing moved the ball who set up Oakins but his shot went just wide. Just before the interval a Craig Pitterson free kick was deflected up into a congested goal area and Wareing's goal bound header was hand balled, Oakins converted from the resulting penalty .
Oakins beat the offside trap and his went shot agonizingly wide of the far post when he should of given Chips the lead. Reid played Simpson through and only a desperate tackle by Luke Adams deflected his effort for a corner. But chips took the lead when Oakins volleyed home a fine effort from twenty yards. The lead only lasted six minutes, Daniel Waldron drew Croydon Athletic level when he touched home the ball after Parkinson parried Moses Ademola's shot.
Waldron was on target again taking a pass from Lovett Graham but Parkinson saved well. Oakins was off target again when Simpson and Pitterson set up a great chance from 18 yards. Oakins slipped the ball to Simpson who fired home from 12 yards to score his first goal of the season, Craig Pitterson was replaced by Joe Garner who was red carded for his first challenge which was allegedly a bad one on Gareth Graham, Croydon threw players forward in an effort to get an equalizer and were rewarded in the 90th minute when Parkinson could only parry a free kick and Oakins attempted a clearance and the ball rebounded back off Chips cross bar for Nathan Campbell to touch home.

CHIPSTEAD 1-0 DULWICH HAMLET
Another fine all round performance saw Chip's gain three more valuable points and maintain a clean sheet for the second successive match both against more fancied opposition. Chip's have moved up to 15th place with this fine victory over a tough uncompromising Dulwich side that didn't expect to leave the High Road with nothing. Man of the match Richard Williams put in another commanding performance in central midfield and with those around him prevented the visitors having too many worthy goal opportunities.
It didn't start at all well for the home side when Steve Boswell, selected at left back for the unavailable Chris Head was upended 30 seconds from the start with a poor tackle from behind that went unpunished and resulted in him being carried off the pitch. Wayne Hibbett came on as his replacement and adjusted his normal midfield attacking role to a defensive fullback admirably. Chip's settled down and Williams powered a header towards goal from Daryl Coleman's free kick and Sheikh Ceesay blocked his effort from close range. Liam Oxley went close meeting Craig Pitterson's corner with a firm head. Dulwich responded and Andy Parkinson saved well from Meshach Nugent's shot and then palmed away a tricky shot from a narrow angle by Billy Chatterway.
Parkinson was in action again moments later saving well with his legs at full stretch ending a strong run from Shawn Beveny. Scott Simpson went close twice just before Chip's took the lead in time added on for the incident at the outset. First Ceesay tipped away his shot and then caught in no man's land Simpson lobed over Ceesay only to see the ball bounce agonizingly inches wide of the goal. It was a fine move that gave Chip's the lead with Coleman slipping a pass through to Pitterson who neatly rounded his marker and cut the ball back across goal for Oxley to pick his spot.
Chip's were inches away from increasing their lead moments after the restart when Simpson's finish was fractionally wide of goal with Ceesay well beaten. Simpson was in action again only this time after rounding Ricky Dobson his powerful shot could only be parried away but Ceesay managed to recover to hold William's effort from the rebound. Chip's defence dealt exceptionally well with the visitor's onslaught in trying to respond and turned play back to their own advantage with two chances when Simpson's powerful shot was fumbled by Ceesay but he recovered to save Oxley's shot. Late on Chatterway had an opportunity from 12 yards out but fired high over Parkinson's goal. Overall a thoroughly deserved victory for the home side bringing them up to a total of 20 points and into a mid table position.

LEATHERHEAD 0 - 1 CHIPSTEAD
Chip's put in a solid performance to secure all three points against a ‘Tanners' side that is still very unsettled with the recent managerial changes and players still coming and going. There were chances for both sides in either half to change the game but in the end the determination to get a result running throughout the visitor's team proved to be the difference between the sides.
Chips got off to a slow start with the home side getting the bulk of possession in the first ten minutes with some early corners which were scrambled away. Andy Parkinson did well diving to his left to save from Aaron Murphy's ground shot which sped off the greasy surface on this wet afternoon.
It was Chip's who took an early lead when Aaron Cole- Bolt was fouled wide on the right and his deep free kick was met by Fred Fleming and put back across the goalmouth where Andrew Wareing rose above the defenders to head home. Play became fairly even between the sides with both goalkeepers being kept busy. Aaron France saved well from Scott Simpson's effort delivered from another Cole-Bolt free kick. Parkinson had to race off his line to clear from the threatening Alex Tiessf. Ashley Reid put in a telling delivery which Danny Oakins met on the volley but his effort was deflected for a corner. Craig Pitterson hammered the cross bar with a thumping header from Cole -Bolts corner which was closely followed by Fleming heading inches wide from another Cole-Bolt delivery. At the other end Billy Marshall put his effort wide of goal and just before the interval Parkinson pulled off a tremendous save from Scott Foresters close range volley.
Right from the whistle France was in action saving brilliantly from Oakins goal bound effort meeting Reid's cross firmly with his head. From the resulting corner the home side only just managed a goaline clearance to avoid Chip's increasing their lead. Chip's continued to pressure the home defence and Simpson's shot was saved before France just managed to fingertip Cole Bolts shot away from goal. Leatherhead broke away and Forrester should have tested Parkinson but blasted his shot high over the visitor's goal. Forrester continued to have a miserable afternoon squandering two other chances in front of goal. Substitute Terry Bowes brought the best save of the match from Parkinson when he blasted a volley from eight yards which Parkinson threw himself at and blocked giving Chip's the chance to clear. Leatherhead threw everything at the visitors to get an equalizer but some solid defending saw Chip's through for three well deserved away points.

Ashley Reid heads clear v Dover
MATCH REPORT

CHIPSTEAD 1 - 3 DOVER ATHLETIC
Chipstead hosted a Dover side as yet unbeaten away from home in the league this season. With confidence high following the midweek success against Ashford, Chipstead started well enough, enjoying good periods of possession during the early exchanges, but they made life very difficult for themselves by conceding as early as the 11th minute. Dover's Sean Welford was allowed space and time on the edge of the Chipstead area and his firmly struck shot somehow found its way through a crowd of players before eluding Chipstead keeper Michael Lidbury.
With no need to commit players forward Dover played a patient game and much of the half's action was rooted in midfield. Neither side looked likely to threaten, with both teams struggling to produce a decent final ball. Long range shots from Aaron Cole-Bolt and Daryl Coleman were the only efforts of note, as Chipstead looked to reply. With half time looming Dover scored a decisive but probably undeserved second goal. Chipstead keeper Lidbury, went down to gather a low cross in the box only for it to cannon off him into the path of Dover's Frannie Collin who was left with a simple finish.
Play resumed with Dover threatening but hitting two efforts wide of the target. Chipstead front men Scott Simpson and Danny Oakins found it hard to keep possession, with their midfield struggling to offer any support. In the 65 minute a rare foray into the Dover half by left back Chris Head resulted in a Chipstead throw in, which Dover failed to clear. As the ball bounced in the Dover area, full back Matt Fish was adjudged to have handled. Danny Oakins scored from the spot to give Chipstead an unexpected life line.
Chipstead then enjoyed their best period of the game as they pushed for an equaliser. In Chipstead's midfield Aaron Cole-Bolt and Daryl Coleman worked hard to manufacture a decent opening, but could not deliver the killer pass.
Dover third goal put paid to any hope of a Chipstead comeback, when they broke at pace as Chipstead committed men forward. Dryden's 85th minute run ended with his shot creeping over the lone off keeper Lidbury's attempted save.

CHIPSTEAD 2 - 1 ASHFORD TOWN
With sweeping changes from Saturdays team Chip's returned to winning ways with a great performance against higher placed Ashford Town. Danny Oakins returned to the side and grabbed himself a brace of goals, one in each half.
The first on 29 minutes came by way of a Chris Head corner which Andrew Wareing rose above his marker to head down for Oakins to direct past Jade Wincup. Soon after Scott Simpson broke away to score but was adjudged offside. Wincup was on his toes to cut out a ball to Simpson after some good passing between Lee Sidwell and Craig Pitterson. Sidwell was replaced at half time due to a slight knock and was replaced by Joe Garner.
Chip's were soon pushing forward again and they were unlucky not to increase their lead after Oakins slipped a ball to Aaron Cole-Bolt who fired a pass across the visitors goal and Simpson saw his touch play the ball on to the post and back into play. Oakins went close again when he shut down Wincup's clearance and from a difficult angle put his effort into the side netting. Oakins was finally rewarded when he timed a run between the Ashford central defenders and Wareings pinpoint pass from 60 yards allowed him to lob over Wincup from the edge of his area.
Ashford pulled one back with eight minutes left when Daniel Braithwaite scored in a crowded goalmouth from a corner. Andy Parkinson was called on to cut out a string of deliveries into his goalmouth as Ashford went all out for an equalizer but Chip's defended out the last few minutes for a deserved victory.

Cray Wanderers 2 - 0 Chipstead
Chip's went down to a goal in each half and was unable to create many chances in a dour game of football. With five regulars unavailable they were unable to find any rhythm to their play and chances were few and far between. Andrew Wareing made a vital tackle in the early minutes to prevent an early chance for the home side. Andy Parkinson was in for a fairly busy afternoon and saved well at the feet of Jamie Wood but couldn't prevent the first goal for Cray after 22 minutes when George Fenwick tapped home from close range after Chip's failed to clear from a corner.
Chip's threatened with a cross from Craig Pitterson and an acrobatic effort from Lynton Hales which just cleared Glen Knights far post. Parkinson did well just before the break diving to his left to save from Danny Chapman. Ashley Reid went close for chips heading just a fraction high from Aaron Cole-Bolts free kick.
Chip's went further behind after 52 minutes when Michael Power seemed offside but with no flag raised ran on to put Cray two goals to the good. Parkinson did well to block a shot from Fenwick at full stretch and later responded quickly when Fenwick saw Parkinson was off his line and attempted a chip but Parkinson reacted quickly and foiled his effort. Chip's pushed three up front in the later stages but it was defender Chris Head who went close with a thirty yard effort that was fractionally too high. Parkinson saved well again close to the final whistle when he blocked an effort from Junior Baker. This will be a match Chip's want to put behind them and look to the future and the return of the injured and suspended players to strengthen the squad.

This match was played at a frantic pace with no end product from either side. There was very little to choose between both sides although the home side had the clearer two opportunities to break the deadlock but failed to test Andy Parkinson on both occasions. Chip's efforts in the first half came from Aaron Cole-Bolts free kick which keeper Craig Bradshaw mishandled and Craig Pittersons effort which he saved.
Aaron Cole-Bolt had two early second half opportunities of which the second forced a fine save from Bradshaw. Cole - Bolt saw another of his efforts fumbled by Bradshaw who then saved brilliantly from the follow up by Pitterson. Whilst the football wasn't pretty Chip's collected another point away from home which may prove vital at the end of the season.

CHIPSTEAD 2 - 2 CORINTHIAN CASUALS
Chip's missed out on collecting their fourth league win after allowing the visitors to come back from a 0-2 deficit to share the points. Man of the match Colin Harris in goal was also a main contributor pulling off a string of fine saves throughout the game but especially in the first half when apart from the first ten minutes of scrappy play from both sides Chip's took control with the best of possession and chances. Andy Parkinson got down well to save from an early effort by Dale Hennessey for the visitors before Harris's busy afternoon began collecting a corner swung under his crossbar from Chris Head whilst under pressure from Andy Wareing.
Liam Oxley missed the best of the early chances for Chip's firing wide from six yards after great work down the right by Lee Sidwell set up his opportunity. The situation was reversed soon after when Oxley pushed a ball on to Sidwell who forced a great save from Harris in the visitor's goal. Oxley had a further opportunity taking a pass from Craig Pitterson and firing in a shot which Harris saved low to his left hand post. Harris was in action again just before the interval when Pitterson turned and rounded Chris Horwood in central defence and struck a great effort goal wards which Harris collected at full stretch.
Chip's continued the pressure from the restart and were rewarded with an early goal from Sidwell who first effort was parried but Harris was powerless to prevent the follow up and Chip's took an early lead in to the second half. Parkinson was in action rushing from goal to intercept a through ball and then saved well from Grieg Andrews. Chip's deservedly went further ahead on 65 minutes when Pitterson collected a pass from Oxley and rounded two defenders before leaving Harris no chance with his accurate finish.
That should have been game over but Casuals came back strongly and were soon rewarded when a poor clearance was pounced on by Kane Sergeant who pulled one back for the visitors. Harris was in action again saving from Pitterson and then punching clear a delivery under pressure from the home side. Chip's got caught out again when poor defending gave Jamel Carr room in the box to fire through a melee of players to draw Casuals level. Parkinson was kept busy for the final few minutes saving well from both Simon Mitchell and Carr for the match to finish all square.

Chipstead 1 - 3 Worthing
Chip's crashed out of the F.A .Trophy but not without a fight. They held their own with high flyers Worthing for just over the hour and not before keeper Rikki Banks had earned man of the match award with a string of good saves to keep a clean sheet before the visitors took the lead. A spate of free kicks early in the match at both ends were safely cleared by defences before the best chance of the half fell to Sam Francis who blasted high over Chip's bar from six yards out.
Andrew Wareing was just off target with his head from an Aaron Cole-Bolt free kick and Sam Gargan done likewise at the other end. Fred Fleming also went close with a headed effort from a corner and Danny Oakins and Daryl Coleman both had shots blocked in a busy goalmouth. Banks was in action again just before the break punching clear a corner and then collecting a dangerous cross from Steve Boswell.
Chip's kept the pressure on straight after the break and Banks was in action again pushing Wareing's effort for a corner and then punching clear under pressure from the corner. Worthing took a surprise lead after 63 minutes when Chip's gave away an unnecessary free kick out wide and failed to clear the delivery which Francis snapped up to give the visitors the lead. Chip's were rocked by a second goal 4 minutes later when Gargen latched onto a poor back pass and swept the ball past Andy Parkinson. Francis wasted another chance firing high over Parkinson's goal just before Boswell got a goal back for Chip's.
In a reshuffle Boswell was sent forward as the third striker and he Latched on to a long ball from Fleming, took a touch and fired past the advancing Banks. Chip's threw everything forward and Banks was forced in to another full length save touching Cole-Bolts powerfully struck shot just wide of goal and then foiling Lee Sidwell at the near post who met Cole-Bolts firmly driven corner. Chip's fell to a third goal when pushing forward and Francis found some space behind Chip's rearguard to slot home his second of the match. Banks was kept busy right to the whistle saving from Wareing in the dying seconds.

TOOTING & MITCHAM 1 - 2 CHIPSTEAD (AET)
Chipstead took a suprise lead in the 37 minute when Lee Sidwell chased a ball into the Tooting box and squared for Liam Oxley to score from close range, in an interesting first where both teame missed lots of goal chances the score remained at 1 - 0 to the Chips.
After the break Tooting stormed back to equalise, and then went on to have a penalty saved by Andy Parkinson who had a great game for the Chips. At the end of 90 minutes the scores were still level at 1-1. Kofi Quartey broke through to give Chipstead their second goal and a home tie against fellow Rymans opponents Worthing in the next round on Saturday 20th October.

Horsham YMCA 1 - 2 Chipstead
This wasn't a game to particularly excite the crowd but nevertheless Chipstead were delighted to take three more league points and leave their hosts further behind them in the League. Chip's were more effective in their forward play and took a deserved lead in the 18th minute. Craig Pitterson was unfairly stopped on his run down the right wing and Chris Head's deep delivery of the free kick found Fred Fleming at the far post who headed home. Chipstead's deliveries into the Horsham goal area were cause for concern and Aaron Cole-Bolts free kick was a tempter for anybody to touch home but it eluded everyone screaming across the six yard area.
Andy Parkinson made a great save diving to his left to fingertip the ball away from a thunderous shot from Joe Keehan. Chip's dealt with two consecutive corners and swept play to the other end where after a good combination between Pitterson and Danny Oakins, Pitterson clipped the ball beyond the flat Horsham defence and Kofi Quartey used his pace to outstrip the defenders and slot home Chip's second goal past the advancing Ken Westoby just before the interval.
Chip's continued to dominate the proceeding's from the restart and Oakins saw his powerful effort whistle just past a post, minutes later a combination of passes down the left resulted in Chris Head bending in a cross that Pitterson met just a fraction early with his head sending the ball inches wide of the near post. Bizarrely the game suddenly turned in the hosts favor when after Chip's had cleared a corner some while later the Referee stopped play as his linesman was flagging. After consultation he dismissed Fleming for an alleged off the ball incident and brought play back and awarded the home side a penalty. Parkinson brilliantly stopped Dean Carden's spot kick but couldn't prevent Steve Davies following up to score.
Oakin's took up the roll of central defender and Chip's continued to look comfortable despite the loss of Fleming. On the hour there was another tussle between numerous players which resulted in Oakin's being red carded. With almost a third of the game to go Chip's reshaped again and defended resolutely keeping Horsham at bay for long periods. Parkinson was on hand to collect a multitude of crosses and Horsham found themselves restricted to long range shooting which Parkinson was alert to right to the final whistle. A victory well deserved by the team and especially the nine men who finished the match.

Chipstead 1 - 1 Tooting & Mitcham
Chipstead entertained unbeaten Ryman One South League leaders in this preliminary round of the F.A. Trophy and with a little more luck might have just edged a result. Tooting had the earlier chances that both fell to striker Paul Vines. He timed a run to get beyond Chip’s defence but as Andrew Parkinson came forward he lost his footing and the opportunity was gone.
Parkinson did well to push away Vines second attempt when he attempted a lob from 20 yards out. Chip’s had a golden opportunity to take the lead when Fred Fleming headed down a free kick to Kofi Quartey who fired a shot at goal from close range and King at full stretch saw the ball rebound to safety off his legs. Chances leading up to the break were few and far between with both defences doing their jobs well and protecting their goalkeepers.
Tooting got off to a flying start after the break when they took the lead after four minutes from the restart. John Henry-Haydon fired in a powerful shot from 22 yards which Parkinson could only parry and Vines was on hand to stroke the ball home. Chip’s had held their own so far and reacted positively and forced three successive corners the latter of which Flemming headed narrowly wide.
Chip’s got a deserved equalizer on 64 minutes when under pressure from Quarty the central defenders couldn’t clear their lines and Quarty lobbed the advancing six foot seven King to level the scores. Both sides pushed on for a decisive goal but the defences held firm to the final whistle.

Danny Oakins challenges for the ball v Molesey
MATCH REPORT
Saturday 29th September
Chipstead 5 -0 Molesey
Chipstead raced to their second consecutive win in classic style sweeping their visitors away with two goals late on in the first half and three in the second session. They also welcomed back to the club Richard Williams who left Chipstead for Whyteleafe four years ago to link up with ex Chip’s manager Stuart Massey.
Both sides started cautiously not wanting to give anything away but Chip’s were full of confidence from their midweek result at far away Whitstable eventually got the better of the visitors and went ahead in the 42nd minute. Lee Granville popped up at the near post to touch home Danny Oakins cross for his first goal for the club. Just two minutes later Fred Fleming playing in central defence for Chip’s went forward for a free kick which Chris Head delivered to the far post where Fleming rose to head home.
If Molesey were going to offer anything at the restart of the second half Oakins quickly put the game out of their reach when he timed his run getting behind a square defence to run on to Andrew Wareing’s delivery and neatly fire past the advancing Jon Ashwood. Andy Parkinson was a virtual spectator for long spells as Chip’s continued to push forward. Craig Pitterson scored Chip’s fourth goal with an excellent strike from the edge of the goal area. Chris Head completed the scoring six minutes from time when he finished off a move between Aaron Cole-Bolt and Oakins meeting the latter’s cross eight yards out and sweeping home.

Whitstable 1 - 2 Chipstead
Chipstead finally earnt their first points of the season to lift themselves off the bottom of the league. They thoroughly deserved their victory against a lack lusted Whitstable side. The visitors took control of the game from the first whistle and never allowed their hosts to get into the game they ruled from the seventh minute when Craig Pitterson fired them into the lead. Danny Oakins nearly joined Pitterson on the score sheet minutes later but his low drive from 25 yards was tipped away by the busy home keeper. Aaron Cole-Bolt tried his luck from distance but his shot flew high over goal. Only a last ditch tackle by full back Danny Tipple prevented Lee Granville from scoring his first goal for Chipstead. Chip’s continued their dominance in the second half and Chris Head was unlucky with a cross shot which narrowly missed the far post. Keeper Kevin Fewel in the home goal saved with his legs from Granville and Joe Garner followed up on to the rebound but his effort went wide from 30 yards out. Granville missed a real opportunity when put through again minutes later. Kofi Quarty replaced Granville and Chips pressure was rewarded minutes later when Oakins earnt a corner which Head swung into the box and Fewel under pressure from Quarty lost possession and Andy Wareing was on hand to stab the ball home. Whitstable threw every thing forward to get back into the game and got a consolation goal nine minutes from time and Andy Parkinson in the Chip’s goal saved well at his near post close to the end to seal Chip’s first points of the season.

Chipstead 0-1 Sittingbourne
Chipstead missed an opportunity to gain their first points of the season against a high flying side that were having an off day. They paid the price for squandering a host of chances. Still without the injured Bradley Drake and Scott Simpson, Danny Oakins was left, on his own up front for the majority of the match and he didn’t always get the best of service.
Chip’s had an early chance to take the lead when Craig Pitterson curled a free kick around the defensive wall only for the tall Steve Williams to tip the ball away for a corner. Although Chipstead bossed the game Sittingbourne took a surprise lead in the 21st minute when a pinpoint free kick picked out Ian Varley who headed home from 12 yards out. Lee Granville making his Chipstead debut linked up well with Pitterson until a late tackle ended his afternoon in the first half.
Daryl Coleman was unlucky when his goal bound effort was deflected away from goal. Chip’s won a corner which created panic in the visitors defence and resulted in a desperate goal line clearance. Chip’s bad luck in front of goal continued in the second half with goalmouth scrambles favoring the visitors and Williams was kept busy throughout the half.
Chip’s final chance fell to Andrew Wareing who met Chris Head’s cross firmly with his head but Williams was on hand again to preserve the visitor’s clean sheet.

Tooting & Mitcham 4 - 1 Chipstead
Chipstead were holding their own well up to half time after taking the lead in the first minute when Andrew Wareing converted Lee Sidwell’s free kick. Tooting started very slowly and just couldn’t get their game going. That wasn’t helped when Dorian Smith had to leave the field through injury. Chips were reduced to ten men shortly after when Sidwell reacted to a poor tackle and was red carded. The numbers were even within five minutes when Joe Vines was dismissed for the same thing against Danny Oakins. Chances were few and far between and Tooting won their first corner after 42 minutes which Chips cleared easily. Just before the interval Daryl Dennhy saved well at full stretch to his left from a powerful effort by Ryan Grey.
Chips defended well after the break from a much more determined Tooting side but they eventually got an equalizer right on the hour mark when Ben Abbey worked his way down the right and put in a cross to the far post which Paul Vines firmly headed home. Tooting began to enjoy the greater possession when Oakins was substituted and the Chips defence was constantly under pressure as they failed to keep the ball for any length of time. Dennhy pulled off two fine saves from close range before the home side were awarded a penalty when Vines was adjudged to have been pushed by Wareing. Matt York took his opportunity to give Tooting the lead in the 76th minute.
Chip’s pushed forward in search of an equalizer and went close when Joe Garner shot from close range which keeper Dave King blocked and Wareing’s follow up was deflected away by a defender. Tooting pushed forward again and Wareing just managed to deflect Des Boatang’s shot onto the crossbar and away to safety. Dennhy made another great save but could do nothing about Vines finish in the 88th minute when again he was in place to fire home Abbey’s cross. Abbey was finally rewarded for all his efforts in the final minutes when Dennhy parried a fierce shot from Vines and Abbey was well placed to follow up to score.

Littlehampton 3 - 2 Chipstead
Chipstead missed an opportunity to progress in this F.A. Cup tie with a very disappointing performance against lower league opposition. although two early chances came chip's way Alex Tapp from six yards and Chris Head from 20 yards both missed the target and the game swept to the other end where Littlehampton's skipper converted a cross at the far post for an 11th minute lead. the game was swinging from end to end with plenty of half chances for both sides. chip's managed to draw level on 36 minutes when lee sidwell picked out Joe Garner with his corner kick and garner headed home to make it all level at the break.
Chips fell behind again soon after the restart when a poor clearance was pounced on and fired back past Daryl Dennhy to give the home side the edge. once again Chip's hauled themselves back into the match when recent signing Aaron Bolt fired in from 20 yards to level the scores. That was short lived as three minutes later Littlehampton's lead was restored when slack marking gave the home sides centre forward space to rise and head comfortably home from 12 yards out.
The game was very scrappy for the final 20 minutes with the home side defending at all costs and chip's trying to grab an equalizer but creating few opportunities to do so. a result that sent the home fans away happy with an away tie at hythe but not a spectacle by any means for the neutrals and certainly not for the chip's fans that traveled to the sussex coast.

Chipstead 1 - 4 Chatham Town
Chipstead clearly missed the presence of Bradly Drake, Danny Oakins and Steve Eggleton in this bank holiday fixture. Chatham skipper Darren Smith gave Chips an early warning to Chips with a shot just wide of goal in the opening minutes. Tyron Jones followed suit but Chris Head blocked his effort conceding a corner which Joe Garner cleared. Garner then saw his effort at the other deflected away for Chips first corner which was cleared away at the near post. Lee Sidwell skipped past two Chatham defenders only to see his shot blocked in front of goal. Chips first real effort on goal came from Craig Pitterson when Ryan Luffman was fouled just outside the penalty area and Pitterson’s free kick forced keeper John Whitehouse low to his left to push the ball to safety. Smith broke the deadlock between the sides in the 39th minute when the ball rebounded to him from a challenge and he fired home past Daryl Dennhy.
Chatham continued to press forward up to the break and Dennhy made a fine save from Steve Best’s shot from close range. Chips fell further behind shortly after the restart when Dennhy dived to his right to parry a shot but the ball fell to Smith who converted his second of the match. Both Sidwell and Pitterson had their efforts saved before Chips managed to pull a goal back. Boswell delivered a free kick into Chatham’s box and Wareing rose above his marker to steer his header back over Whitehouse. This was Chip’s best spell of the game and substitute Laurence Buckmann was inches away from touching another Wareing header past Whitehouse. For all the home sides effort they went further behind conceding a free kick just outside the goal area and Smith claimed his hat trick with a fine dead ball kick over the defensive wall out of Dennhy’s reach. Chatham gained a fourth goal when Antony Williams fouled Bradley King conceding a penalty which the confident Smith converted for his and Chatham’s fourth goal.

Met Police 2 - 0 Chipstead
Chipstead were holding their own well up to half time despite losing Bradley Drake through injury after 20 minutes. Met Police had the greater share of play but some good goalkeeping by Darren Dennhy and timely interceptions by Chip’s back four kept the home side at bay. Chip’s were aided by Dennhy’s left hand post and the ball rolled across goal with no one to tap it home. Will Packham in the home goal was untroubled apart from collecting a couple of crosses under pressure. Debutant Jamel King was replaced at half time by Michael Lowdon.
Right from the restart Dennhy was brought in to action saving at the feet of Paul Hunt and then denying Hunt again saving well at full stretch. Chip’s eventually fell behind when Steve Head’s clearance fell to Martin Lee who steadied himself before firing past Dennhy. Boswell brought Packham into action forcing a save low to his right. The home side increased their lead on 63 minutes when John Daley steered his header beyond Dennhy. Craig Brown was denied a goal by Dennhy making a great block from his powerful shot.

Burgess Hill 3 - 2 Chipstead
Chipstead came close to their first points of the season but let it slip from their grasp just five minutes from the end of a fast fought match which saw plenty of action in both goalmouths. The match started and finished at a good pace which was maintained almost throughout the entire ninety minutes.
Chip’s were on the defensive for the early stages of the match with chances for Burgess Hill plentiful but Chip’s defence held tight until 30 minutes when the breakthrough came for the home side. A deep cross from the left by Hewitt was pushed away by Daryl Dennhy but only as far as Sadough who fired through a crowded goal area to open the scoring. Danny Oakins came close for Chip’s when Bradley Drake was fouled and his free kick forced Winteton to a full stretch save pushing the ball away to his right.
Chip’s made a bright start to the second period equalizing within five minutes of the restart when Steve Boswell fired in a low cross from the right and Laurence Buckmann converted at the far post. But it was only minutes later the home side restored their lead when the ball was given away wrong footing the defence and Matt Geard fired home past Dennhy. Chips brought on Luke Adams and Craig Pitterson and it was those two who worked well to gain Chip’s another leveler. Adam’s run at the home defence and was eventually brought down 25 yards from goal. Pitterson bent his free kick around the defensive wall and beyond Winterton for a fine equalizer. The home side threw everything forward and Chip’s defended well until the 85 minute when a near post corner caught them napping to give the home side maximum points.

Chipstead 1 - 3 Walton & Hersham
Chipstead didn’t have the best start to life in the Ryman League One South against strong opposition relegated from the Premier League last season and determined to get straight back up there.
Walton scored in the first few minutes but Dan Nwanze’s effort was adjudged offside. Good work by Nathan Graham for the visitors resulted in his cross being collected by Andy Parkinson under pressure from Nwanze. Play went from end to end with little goalmouth action until Craig Pitterson jinked his way into Walton’s penalty area where his trickery was too much for Will Jenkins who tripped him to concede a penalty. Ryan Luffman confidently converted to give Chips an early lead sending Stuart Searle the wrong way.
Walton responded and Chip’s conceded far to many corners but stood their ground well with Steve Eggleton and Andy Wareing in central defence commanding the backline well. It was on thirty minutes that Walton leveled the match when Adam Moriarty on Walton’s right slipped a pass infield to Mark Peters who spotted Parkinson off his goaline and neatly curled the ball beyond his reach.
Chips were put under the cosh up to halftime and Walton took the lead on 44 minutes when Rob George found a yard of space and turned and shot past Parkinson from 20 yards. Chip’s had a chance early in the second half but Chris Head’s effort from a free kick was just too high. Manager Nick English elected to change tactic’s early in this spell and brought on Bradley Drake to partner Luffman up front.
Steve Boswell found a yard of space and forced Seale to a save to his right from thirty yards out. Joe Garner at the other end made a well timed tackle to thawt Nathan Graham’s effort from just inside the penalty area. Tom Carter sent in a deceiving cross for the visitors but Laurence Buckmann cleared his effort. Chip’s pressed hard for an equalize but got caught out in the 85 minute when a fine move down Walton’s right between Nwanze and Moriarty saw a pin point cross delivered which George converted with a fine header sealing the match for Walton.
