2005-06 Season

In the 2005-06 season Chipstead Under 18's finished third in the North Division of the Southern Youth League. They played 18, won 12, drew 3 and lost 3, scoring 34 goals, conceding 17 and amassing 39 points. Carshalton Athletic won the league with 42 points. Chipstead drew with Carshalton at home in their first league game of the season and lost 1-0 away. Bromley came second with the same points total as Chipstead but had a better goal difference of 1. Chipstead drew 1-1 with Bromley at home and beat them 3-0 away.

Chipstead beat South Park 8-0 in the first round of the Southern Youth League Challenge Cup. They then beat Woking 4-0 in the second round but lost to Worthing 4-3 after extra time in the third round.

The highlight to the season (in addition to challenging for the league title) was to progress to the third round proper of the FA Youth Cup. Chipstead beat Lewisham Borough 6-0 at home in the first qualifying round, then Moneyfields at home in the second qualifying round and then Thamesmead 4-2 away from home to progress to the first round proper. In the first round proper the Youth teams of the lower league professional clubs enter the competition. Chipstead drew Chesham United at home and beat them 3-2 and then again avoided a 'big' club when they drew Folkestone Invicta away from home whom they beat 2-1 in the second round proper. The Youth teams of the Premiership and Championship clubs enter the competition in the third round proper and Chipstead drew Carlisle United away from home. Carlisle are the most northernly club that play in the English football league. The game was played on a Sunday to allow for travelling on the Saturday and an overnight stay in a hotel. The team lost 5-1 after taking the lead in the first half. The score was 1-1 at half time and still 1-1 with 20 minutes to go but Carlisle went in front immediately after one of the Chipstead forwards was sent off for two yellow cards and as Chipstead chased the game Carlisle scored three more goals in the last 10 minutes to give a very flattering scoreline. Only two other non-league clubs had progressed that far in the competition so it was a great accolade for the Youth team and a great occasion for the Club, players and supporters.

During the 05-06 season eleven Youth team players represented the first team, namely, Liam Brady, Dean Harmsworth, Tom Flynn, Liam Harwood, Jamie Jagdeo, Jamie King, Henri Kousso-Doua, Sam Kuhinde, Rob Lynch, Michael Nicholas and Tom Penson. In addition to these eleven, nine others also represented the reserve team, namely, Omar Darweesh, Aaron Denton, Daryl Coleman, Alex Garcev, Jack Higgins, Harry Hudson, Julian Owusu, Gary Simmons and Chris Stripp.

Seven players also represented the Surrey County under 18 team, namely, Liam Brady, Dean Harmsworth, Liam Harwood, Jack Higgins, Jamie King, Michael Nicholas and Gary Simmons.
