Chipstead deservedly took a point in a competitive 0-0 draw at home to Redhill in their latest match in the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier Division South on Bank Holiday Monday

Less than 48 hours on from the last action of both sides, neither really showed much sign of fatigue despite the early start time

Chips, buoyed by their fantastic 4-2 win at home to Virginia Water on Saturday, started promisingly, with Diego Munoz in the thick of the action - a long free-kick also soon found Abioseh Davies, whose shot was pushed wide by the visiting keeper

Home keeper Jacob Bennett, who was to prove the key man for his side on the day, made his first save with a strong foot to repel a Redhill attack, & then rushed out of his area to head clear a long ball forward

Munoz saw his shot charged down by ex-Chip Tommy Smith, before home skipper Quincy Rowe made a vital block to abort an attack from the visitors

Bennett had to get down bravely to save a close-range header, & was pleased to see Erick Rayo Arias clear the loose ball, but Bennett soon had to be on his toes to thwart another attack, as pressure continued to mount

Another ex-Chip Ethan Ford ran at the home defence, but the shot at the end of the move went wide, & it remained scoreless at the break

Chipstead began the second half brightly too - Cameron Harrison broke clear of the defence, & pushed the ball through to Munoz, but the assistant referee flagged for offside - Reece Deakin then surged forward, but couldn't thread the ball square to Munoz

Bennett claimed majestically a long Redhill throw into his area, before he was forced to tip another speculative shot over the bar

Sub Deshon Carty quickly got into the action, getting to the byline, but his teasing cross was headed clear

Bennett got down to his left to push a fierce shot against a post, & was relieved to see the rebound put wide, but he was soon at full stretch to push another effort wide

Smith headed a Redhill corner against the woodwork, while Chips sought a winner for themselves at the other end - Michael Agyemang shot from distance, but it was wide of the mark, before Deakin fed James Mansfield down the left, but the keeper gathered his low cross in

Neither side could claim the victory, & Chipstead had performed solidly in the goalless draw against a team with high expectations - they end the day 11th in the league table, with no game this coming Saturday, but away next in the league to Yateley Utd. on Tuesday 8th September
