Chipstead found themselves on the wrong end of a 5-0 scoreline in their latest Pitching In Isthmian League South Central Division match v. Bracknell played at Sandhurst FC on Saturday
When Chips' centre-forward, & current leading goalscorer in the division, Tom Collins was cynically chopped down from behind in the early moments of the game, it set the frustrating tone for what followed - the home centre-half only received a yellow card, & you knew a tough game lay ahead, & Dan Moody's free-kick was saved too
Chipstead keeper Matt Kerbey & his defence twice had to be on their toes to deny Bracknell early chances, before Ollie Allen's cross to Collins found the forward just offside
Collins was soon taken out again, but Chips couldn't make their free-kicks count on this occasion, & Kerbey had to save well again at the other end, but Oliver Creed had been fouled in the build-up, so the whistle had blown
Kerbey then tipped another Bracknell shot over the bar, but the home side scored from the resultant corner through a header from their no. 5 on 32 minutes to put them 1-0 up
Their no. 9 then flashed a low ball across the Chipstead area, but thankfully no one made contact
The visitors' best chance of the half came just before the break, as Simeon Dennis broke forward, & threaded a delightful ball through to Collins, but it just wouldn't sit right for him to shoot, & it remained 1-0 at halftime
Kieran Lavery came on as sub for Dennis, with Creed moving to right-back in a flat back four - Andy Somo made an early break down the left, Karn Miller-Neave took the ball further upfield, but his cross was blocked for a corner
Jeremy Boakye came on as sub for Allen, as Chips tried to fashion an equaliser - they exerted some pressure on the Bracknell area, but no real clearcut chance ensued
Indeed the home side doubled their lead on 65 minutes, when their no. 10 hit a shot in off a post - 2 minutes later & it was 3-0, as a low ball from the left was parried by Kerbey, but touched in by the no. 9 at the far post
Marco Correia came on as sub for Jensen Grant, with Creed reverting to centre-half, as Chipstead's final change, in an attempt to get some positive motion forward, & he had one decent run, before Bracknell scored their 4th goal, as their no. 4 headed home from a corner on 75 minutes
Moody put over a deep cross to Somo, but the tall forward couldn't get his header on target, & the home side quickly scored their 5th with 6 minutes left courtesy of one of their subs
Kofi Anokye-Boadi shot inches wide of an upright, but it finished 5-0 - not Chipstead's day, & they will need to regroup ahead of next Saturday's home game with Whitehawk in the Buildbase FA Trophy 3rd qualifying round
