Chipstead’s under-18s came unstuck, as they lost 3-1 to a plucky Woking side in their latest match in the Anderson Travel Isthmian League Youth Central Division on Monday night at the High Road
It was 0-0 after 15 minutes, although Michael Osei had shot just over, & Daniel Berry’s dazzling run was brought to an abrupt halt at the expense of a corner
Home keeper Baldwin Kaluya made a fine double save to keep it scoreless, before a smart Chips move turned defence into attack, but was snaffled out by the Woking defence
Kaluya was called into action twice more to save well, while George Craig’s shot was deflected over, & it remained 0-0 at the break
Soon into the second half, Woking took the lead, as a shot was parried by Kaluya, but deemed to have crossed the line
Harry Pearson had a shot blocked at close range for a corner, but the ball then went straight up the other end, & Woking scored their second
Chipstead made substitutions to freshen things up, & Berry’s low cross just eluded one of them, Charlie Fisher, who also had a couple of runs pulled back for offside, but the team were struggling to get back into the game
Berry fired a shot over the bar, but Pearson did give his side hope, turning in a rebound after two shots had been blocked by the keeper, although the game was by then in the 90th minute
As Chips pushed forward seeking an equaliser, Woking broke away & scored a third, and so it finished 3-1, ahead of the next game at home to Met Police
